Kerry Garry

I am a fully qualified English teacher with experience working in successful mainstream schools and a current enhanced DBS check. I have taught students with a range of abilities including higher ability students working towards specific, ambitious goals. I also have a passion for helping students who have become disengaged or who lack confidence in English to achieve success.
After qualifying as a teacher, I went on to complete my Masters degree specialising in Diversity in Education. I have worked in a Pupil Referral Unit and with many students with different Special Educational Needs and believe strongly in trying to minimise barriers to students who find education challenging.
More recently (since having children and deciding not to return to full-time teaching) I work part-time on a self-employed basis both within schools and with students in their own homes. I now use my skills to support students and get to know their individual goals and needs. I find this focused, highly individualised way of working allows me to form great connections to students and their families and has been extremely rewarding to be part of.
Services Offered
I welcome any discussion about what support I can offer. I have some day-time availability for potential home-school students or for students who are not attending school. I also provide evening tutoring sessions within your home with a focus on English Language and/or English Literature.
I can provide and accurately mark mock exam papers and give helpful, timely feedback on the next steps to improvement.
As exams get closer, I can offer extra sessions to support last minute preparation as well as assisting in exam technique, dealing with exam nerves and creating revision timetables and resources.
If you think I may be able to help then please get in touch with me at kerrygarrytutoring@outlook.com and I will get back to you promptly to discuss further.
